However, when I'm done with a page (finished reading and following the last link I want to follow) I open the link the same tab to save myself coming back later and rescanning the page, wondering what I also meant to look at (I have the memory of the proverbial goldfish). I general, I think it's presumptuous for a web site to dictate the style of browsing to the user. If you leave the links untagged then the reader can choose whether to open in the same tab, a new tab or a new window, which is much better. I too normally open links in a new tab. I'm noticing however that a lot of other sites choose to open their links in the same window. Don't know if that's a game they play to increase their page hits or something else.
