The Marina Chihuahua

Published by at 4:10 am under Daily Life,Floating Homes

Lest you think I’m making up the story of the frequently-appearing Pomeranian in a life vest, I’ve attached footage of one of the row-bys below. She quite frequently floats by in a kayak, as well.

One of her owners corrected me about the fact that she’s actually a Long-Haired Chihuahua rather than a Pomeranian. She’s apparently quite sensitive about the distinction. So please consider this my editorial correction.

We just purchased a new boat and while hanging around the marina waiting for my husband to get the deal he wanted I noticed life jackets for dogs with handles on the back so you can lift them in and out of the boat. I’d never seen a dog wearing one before but it makes sense to me, expecially for smaller dogs. If they went overboard, at least you could lift them back in.

He sure does LOOK like a Pomeranian! Hopefully you can catch him in the kayak, too! Life on your floating home looks very interesting!

I’ve gotten to the point of keeping my video camera within reach of the door so I can grab it quickly. So many strange sights have happened to quickly for me to catch on film.

Thanks for the tip, Winne. A handle sounds really useful.

I agree that a dog life jacket makes total sense for the little dogs…and especially for the handle.
