Keep playing with the placement, though-- they might be unobtrusive to the point of not really working to your advantage, at this point! Advertisers will want more real estate, though (because they don't believe smaller is better!), so you may want an option for them to purchase more than one of the tiles and connect them seamlessly into one adblock. Actually, the thing I find endlessly annoying, which isn't even properly an ad, is that every single time I am on Tumbleweed, the bloody "download our brochure!" alert jumps over the page and forces me to click something to make it go away before I can read the site. YES, I've seen the brochure. I'm convinced. If I had any money, I would have bought two of them by now.
