I didn't even notice the adds until I'd scrolled waaaay down, so they're definitely not intrusive. Keep playing with the placement, though-- they might be unobtrusive to the point of not really working to your advantage, at this point!

Thanks for the feedback, Kerrick. I promise no pop-up windows or animated GIFs. (If I somehow botch it on the set-up, please let me know!)

The ad block where you have it now looks okay. It's prominent, but the ads won't distract from the main content. (unless they start flashing and jumping. Let's not have that, okay?) Advertisers will want more real estate, though (because they don't believe smaller is better!), so you may want an option for them to purchase more than one of the tiles and connect them seamlessly into one adblock.

Actually, the thing I find endlessly annoying, which isn't even properly an ad, is that every single time I am on Tumbleweed, the bloody "download our brochure!" alert jumps over the page and forces me to click something to make it go away before I can read the site. YES, I've seen the brochure. I'm convinced. If I had any money, I would have bought two of them by now. I just want to read comments on the blog without having to close an alert box every single time I visit.

Moral turpitude!! Okay, I'm kidding. I have no problem with ads on your site. I doubt you'd let it become the main focus, and why shouldn't you try to at least not have this cost you money every month. It's free for us to read, so why not? It is just the way things are nowadays online.

Now if you start with pop-up ads and other invasive type things, that'd be a different story. But I have a feeling that type of thing annoys you just the same as everyone else with any sense.
