Lemonade – The Documentary
I cannot wait to watch this! This is a documentary which features people in the ad biz who were laid off and discovered it was an opportunity to take back their lives.
This project is the creation of Erik Proulx, founder of Please Feed the Animals a website which focuses on the recently laid off.

I packed up 15 boxes of 25 yrs of ref material, books, projects. etc, and it took me 2 1/2 hours to pack, I was sweat through shirt und brow, then it took two car load trips to get it all home..leaving half boxes outside trusting nobody scarf any off. They didn’t.
Some of the boxes I haven’t even looked in since.
That was on Thursday Sept. 13th, 2001, and all I could think of was how f*ckn lucky I was to be breathing.
I’m back doing the same thing for about 40% less. HiHo.
Little scary but looks very very uplifting. I was watching the scifi movie DUNE the other day and there’s this quote from that movie that seems relevant to this… and life in general.

I’m not sure Layoffs were exactly what the author had in mind but seems like a nice snug fit.
Now the real trick is to awaken the sleeper before HR shows up at the door with a hatchet.

Creative people will eventually become trapped in any structure in which contains them; its the nature of the beast. The ones that I worry about are those who are still laboring under the assumption that it is somebody else’s job to provide them with a job.
Bottom line:
Either you work for a rich guy doing what he wants you to do or you create your own deal.
